Shampooing

Before washing your hair extensions, separate the hair into four sections and secure with hair bands. Gently comb through any tangles using a wide tooth comb. Once the hair has been detangled, begin shampooing. Use a gentle downward motion, slowly working from the tips up to the roots. Avoid scrubbing the hair too vigorously.

Finish by rinsing the hair thoroughly until the water runs clear of shampoo. It is recommended that you shampoo your hair extensions a minimum of once a week.

Conditioning

All our authentic virgin hair extensions come in excellent natural condition, but it is still important to maintain moisture and shine. The best way to do this is by using conditioner and serum, and avoiding products that contain alcohol. Be careful not to use too much moisturising product, as this can cause greasiness and weigh down the hair.

It is recommended that you carry out a deep condition twice a month. Choose a rich, nourishing product and leave it in for up to two hours before rinsing thoroughly.

More frequent conditioning is very straightforward. After shampooing, work enough conditioner into the hair to coat the mid-sections and ends. Use a wide tooth comb to gently detangle the hair and distribute the conditioner evenly throughout the extensions. Rinse in the manner described above, ensuring that all the conditioner is removed from the hair.

Maximise shine and moisture by gently towel drying the hair after conditioning and applying a suitable hair serum. Where possible, allow your extensions to air-dry as frequent blow-drying can cause damage.

Colouring

You should not attempt to colour the extensions yourself. If you want to colour your virgin hair extensions, it is strongly recommended that you take them into a professional hair salon. Be aware that bleaching or tinting may dry out and damage your extensions and change the quality and texture of the hair.

Certain hair dyes can contain irritants and allergens. Colouring your hair extensions runs the risk of coming into contact with these substances. Make sure you carry out a strand test beforehand and check ingredients lists.

Styling

Heated styling tools can be used to enhance the natural beauty of our extensions. This includes curling wands, tongs and straighteners. Heat-protection styling products can be applied to the hair before styling. At night, flexible hair rollers can be worn to produce a natural curl.

We always recommend the use of a wide tooth comb to keep our extensions tangle-free. Comb gently in a downwards motion, starting at the tips of the hair and working up to the roots. Do not backcomb the hair as this can cause damage.

Other Considerations

In cold weather, protect against damage by moisturising with serums and oils. In hot weather, help to control curled or wavy styles with a small amount of styling product.

Our hair extensions can be damaged by coming into contact with chlorine or salt water. If you wear your extensions while swimming, comb them and apply a protective leave-in conditioner beforehand. Shampoo and condition the hair thoroughly afterwards.
